May was pretty good month for me and my bankroll. hehe. I would say 70% of the tournaments I played I finished on FT, winning or placing second at least in 10% of them. Not sure if the numbers are correct, but one thing for sure- it seemed like I was on top of my game. Folding some huge hands, making some great reads and calling some all ins with bottom pair. In my little live poker league I made to second place and won a WSOP trip to Event 4. Bankroll was going up ... What I can't tell about coming back from Vegas trip...But I will come back to that a little bit later.
So last week of May I pack my little suitcase, get on Southwest Airlines and finally land in Sin City. I was going couple days earlier than my buddies, so I decided to go to some upscale resort. I chose Mandalay Bay. Great hotel, Great casino. THE BEST pool I've seen so far. There is a adult pool aswell, you pay like $50 and you can get to see some titties, but I didn't go there bcs didn't want to look like a lonely freak who came to see some half naked women sunbathing. Maybe with friends I would do that, but alone - nah, thanks. Overall the Mandalay Bay is awesome, but staying there alone is no fun at all. So, I was just playing poker in their poker room. What can I say, tournaments suck big time. I played in one, but after I realized that on third level you have chips to only push all in or fold, I decided to stick to cash games. I heard that MB had pretty soft competition, but I was proved wrong. Unless ppl are drunk as hell, they played like nits. Great to steal some pots, but you won't get much money from them. They won't put money in the middle unless they have nuts. To make story short, recorded couple winning sessions and couple losing sessions.
My buddy- Sliekas from PDC arrived in Vegas and we moved to some one of least expensive hotels- Tropicana. Last year we stayed and we had some bad rooms, but they had great 3 tables poker room full of drunk donkeys. This year I got some upgraded room, but oh f..k, there was no poker room anymore. We went across the street to MGM Grand, where people say is the best place to make some money in Vegas. And I have to agree with them. The competition is pretty soft, a lot of drunk loose players. Of course there are guys who are coming just to play with Aces or kings, but these guys leave pretty soon after they get sucked out by some drunk fkk with 107 preflop all in.
We had great time there all week. Played only in MGM. We talked to some PDC guys to meet up in vegas, but only Daduhweehwah showed up. He stayed in Trop with us. Great guy. Funny ass. Him and Sliekas were trying to bankrupt MGM by drinking their free alcohol. All of it. Almost succeeded.
Me and Sliekas were playing our Event 4 on saturday and Daduh was a bummer and was too late to register for the tourney, so he registered for PLO instead.
WSOP tourney was pretty cool, even though I got knocked out with flush draw A5s againt my AK. Flop two spades and K. I pushed all in on flop and hoped that only PDC guys are chasing flush draws, but I was wrong. Guy insta called with his flush draw and of course hit his spade on turn. EEK. Oh well.
Sliekas got busted with KK preflop against AQ. Tough luck. Some other LTU club guys played there aswell. One of them made to money 300 something...
Back to MGM...
And then the fun began. We had almost full week ahead of us, so there was a lot of poker...I didnt have that much fun at a poker table for a long time. Me and Sliekas were playing 1-2 and Daduh was scaring 2-5 tables. I had some fun tables. One night there were some fun young guys and couple of girls playing at my table and couple older dudes who didn't really like us having so much fun. We had so much fun at the table that everybody pretty much forgot we were playing for real money. We even had 8 people wave... First started with 4 ppl, then after our grumpy players asked for table change we got some fresh young drunk blood we started increasing our forces. Wave was getting longer. If we got some new guy and we saw that he was not really into our fun, we would start betting on how long it would take for him to ask for table change. And guess what, 10-15 minutes into the game the new grumpy guy would call a floor person in order to get moved to another table. And once he stood up to leave, the table erupted laughing. Pretty bad feeling for him. Anyway, back to our wave. We finally got almost everyone agree to do it I even tipped the dealer to join us. Good stuff. I have to mention that our table was cut off from cocktail waitress serving us drinks. I couldn't even get coffee. They said it's enough for you guys. Damn that was fun.
Cash wise we all ended up playing poker. These two shmucks were a little bit down with strippers though. Haha. Saphire strip club is huge, but way overpriced. However, a tip for those who didn't know. Any cab will take you for free to any Vegas strip club. And you will even get a free drink. Another tip- don't go to private room for a lapdance. It will cost 15 times more than the same dance in the public area.
Daduh was owning roulette. One day he guessed a number twice in like 5 spins. sick. Overall i was up on rouletter aswell. My 13 hit me twice. Not bad. But I still think to play anything but poker in casino is a sure losing situation.
One more tip if anyone is getting ready to go to Vegas. Play poker in one casino. Get their card and always give it to dealer, once you sit down to play poker. If you log in enough hours, you will get some good deals, maybe even free nights. I did. I came back home and in couple of weeks I received email from MGM to come for 3 free nights in July. Of course I did go back there...
However, even the live poker in Vegas is extremely fun and profitable, after you come back and start playing online poker, you can't get back in your rythm for at least a week. Both times this year after I got back home, I simply couldn't win anything. I'm still making up for my losses after some of my crazy 5-10 sessions. I'm trying not to even open any cash table, bcs I know I will get burned. I will stick to my tourneys I will get my Bankroll back to normal...
Anyway, that's it about my Vegas trip. Of course there was a lot more funny stories, but it will be enough for this time.
